From legend to proverb. The relic that in 1795 inspired one of the most famous sayings of Naples.
The architectural events that saw the foundation of the eighteenth-century layout and the late nineteenth-century renovation of the current church of San Giuseppe dei Nudi were quite complex and concerned the construction of the definitive seat on the plain of the Costigliola starting from 1743, when the institution He obtained from Duke Domenico Carafa, in perpetual concession, the soil bordering his palace at the Costigliola.
The museum, which occupies a portion of the eighteenth-century building of the monumental complex, includes the historical archive and the church with its magnificent 18th century organ, as well as the historic garden. There are six exhibition rooms where it will be possible to admire, along the leitmotif of the history of the institution, which covers about three centuries, paintings, sculptures and reliquaries that constitute only a part of the institution's heritage.
This strip of greenery is set in the popular neighborhood, where children play football on the street, a few meters from the National Archaeological Museum and the Galleria Principe di Napoli, with the large red palace that rises from the staircase, the scene of the filming of Filomena Marturano del 1951: Caracciolo Palace in Melissano.
